Ethos & Values

As a faith school our values are grounded in our beliefs about children and inspired by the Bible.
We value love, respect, care and human kindness. We act in service of one another.
We value justice, fairness and equality. We strive to give hope, aspiration and opportunity to all.
We value integrity and character. We meet challenges with honesty, resilience and perseverance.
We value the joy of living and learning. We give thanks for fun, laughter and play.

“The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.”   Galatians 5:22-23

Love We believe we are all known and loved by God. We are created in his image. This makes each and every one of us unique and special. We all deserve to be loved and cared for and treated with human dignity and respect. Everyone in our school community is important, but none more so than our children. Our children tell us they want every adult in their life to care. They want to care for others and make our school a safe and peaceful place. The bible tells us:

The Lord is merciful and gracious; slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.  Psalm 103:8

I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.  By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.  John 13:34-35

We believe God’s vision for the world is one of equality and justice for all. In giving children the best education we can, we aim to give them hope that they can make a difference in the world.  We are prepared to ‘go extra mile’ for those in need. We have high aspirations. We know it is just and right to want for and believe in the very best for our Children.

Our children tell us they want rules that are consistently and fairly applied. They want a good education provided by good teachers who have faith in them, have high expectations and give them challenge.

The bible tells us:

Let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.  Amos 5: 24

Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Matthew 6:10

We believe that all people are called by God to be learners (disciples), to be whole or complete and meet their full potential.  Learning involves challenge; successful learners therefore need strength of character. We aim to give our children a desire to strive for excellence, make thoughtful choices, learn from their mistakes and approach new challenges with resilience and perseverance.

Our children tell us they want to do their best, they want good relationships with their family and friends and they want us to support them through challenges of life and learning.

The bible tells us:

But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for the Lord does not see as mortals see; they look on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”  1 Samuel 16:7

Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honourable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.  Philippians 4:8

We believe fun, laughter, music, praise and play are how we glorify God our creator. We know real learning is fun, engaging and motivating. People of faith and many happy and successful people have a sense of gratitude for what they have.

Our children tell us they want to be creative and to enjoy their play and learning. They readily offer thanks for what they have in life.

The bible tells us:

This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.  Psalm 118:24

I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.  John 10:10
