Lorraine Doyle – Chair of Governors

Lorraine was jointly appointed by the Local Authority and Oxford Diocese as the Executive Chair in May 2016. Following a reconstitution of the Governing Board in June 2017, Lorraine became Chair of Governors.

Lorraine is also Chair of Governors at Denefield School, a secondary Academy school and Downsway Primary School, a Local Authority maintained school; both schools are in West Berkshire. Lorraine is also a National Leader of Governance. She is a Chartered Accountant and worked for PWC Reading as a Corporate Tax manager before having children. In her spare time Lorraine volunteers for Age UK.

Rosie Hughes

I have been a foundation governor at SMAS for 8 years and a member of All Saints church for 11 years. I was a secondary school teacher of Drama and English in Reading, but have also spent time teaching study skills and revision techniques all over the country with a private company. I spent six months doing early years childcare and teaching in Melbourne, Australia when I went to the Commonwealth Games in 2006. I have two children and currently use my British Sign Language qualifications, interpreting for deaf students part time as a communication support worker at local colleges. I am on the committee for a local preschool and am just about to start night classes to learn Polish.

Reverend Jo Williams

The Reverend Jo Williams is the Vicar at St Mark and All Saints in Reading and as such is an ex officio foundation governor.

Harvey Smith

Harvey’s background is in education, with particular expertise in international education systems, having worked extensively in Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia advising governments and institutions as well as in management positions. Before this he was a secondary school teacher in Liverpool and has also been a teacher trainer. He has a PhD from Reading University and has lived in Reading since 1997. He was awarded an OBE in 1988.

Sam Awuku

Samuel is a Parent Governor. He has two children who have benefited or befitting from the education provided by St Mary and All Saints Primary School.  Samuel is a Chartered Mathematics Teacher, a Fellow of College of Teachers and a Member of the Institute of Directors, UK. He works as an International Leadership and Institutional Development Consultant.

Bick Nguyen

Bick is a Local Authority governor and works in Finance at Reading Borough Council.  She is a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and has extensive experience within both public and private sectors.  Her previous roles in the education sector included Finance Manager at a local secondary school and Accountant for Reading’s adult learning and skills service.

Gill Gooch – Deputy

Gill Gooch has been the Deputy Head at St Mary and All Saints since September 2013. She has been a teacher for more than 28 years holding various roles including class teacher, Assessment Resource Lead, ASD advisory teacher for the RBC, SENCO & Inclusion Manager and Lead for Speech & Language Resource. As part of the Executive Committee she has particular responsibility for reporting on data, pupil premium progress and behaviour. Gill has twice been a staff governor and was also a Local Authority governor in local primary schools in Reading, Wokingham and West Berkshire.

Elizabeth Hodge

Elizabeth Hodge has been a member of the Governing Board of St Mary and All Saints since her children started the school.  She is also a member of the Headteacher’s performance review panel and advises the Governing Board on admissions. Elizabeth has a legal background

Mark Richardson

Mark Richardson has been serving on the governing board for the last two years and is a parent of a former pupil. A chartered accountant currently working as Head of Finance for a local housing association, he has experience of corporate governance being Trustee of a small charity and on the finance committee of another. He brings his financial expertise with him to the governing board.
